We visited Mi Degollado for the first time tonight. On the way in, we asked a couple of people what they think. Their responses were "It's alright"; "There's no wait"; "The chimichangas are really good"; and, "It smells bad in here but the food is really good." It did indeed smell a little strange in the restaurant. We had a really friendly server and we liked him, but he was not attentive at all. We needed silverware once. I got up to get it and he was eating (it was dinner time...not a big deal to us). Another time, after asking multiple times, we got up to go ask for to-go boxes. He was sitting in a chair texting. That didn't give us the best impression. He went back to texting and that was how we found him when we went to pay the bill. He was still nice. We learned that he and his family came from the town the restaurant is named after (don't google the translation...we did...) I got the special, Enchiladas Tapatias. They were good. No sides came with it, but it was very cheesy and good. The menu said it would come with nacho cheese, but he assured me it would be white cheese (which it was). There was grilled chicken with avacados on top. It was good. My dad got this fajita type thing served in a giant lava rock mortar. It was filled with shrimp, beef, octopus, mozzarella, avocado, a pepper, vegetables, and their 'special sauce.' There was a second plate with rice, beans, lettuce, etc and tortillas. He LOVED it. He really liked the sauce and there was A LOT of food. It was so hot it seemed to cook on the table during the entire meal. We can't find the name of it because they don't seem to have a website yet. They said they'd only been here a few months. We also got a bottle of Mexican pop. It was only 1.50. We felt like the prices were very reasonable for what you get. The special was 7.99. The fajita bowl thing was somewhere around 14. Conclusion: Food was good. Atmosphere not so great (strange smell, typical Mexican restaurant look). Great prices. Service was friendly but inattentive. We liked it anyway. We like the underdog. :)

Amazing food selection. The fiesta burrito is great and the Molcajete is SUPERB!!! Our family all ordered new dishes as they offer many unique plates here. Service is good and drinks were refilled often.

Went in at 1 pm on Wednesday. Was the only person there. No service. I ordered the Degollado steak and cheese. What I received was 90 percent onion and a tiny bit of steak in a tortilla. Waiter never returned to check on me. Was not offered a refill. Steak wasn't even good. Far too chewy.

I got a few tacos to go. The beef tacos were okay but the chicken taco was tasteless. I appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa, though. Chips were fried and tasty and the salsa had a little heat.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
